Threads: running several lines of work in one case
A case's chat can be split into separate threads, shown as tabs above the message box, so a settlement negotiation and a damages calculation do not end up in the same conversation. Every case starts with one thread called Main, and you can add up to ten in total.
Threads are available to everyone. There is nothing to switch on.
Create a thread
Give a thread a name you will recognise later, because that name is also how you refer to it from other threads.
In the case chat, click New thread. Once the case has more than one thread, this becomes the plus button at the end of the tab strip.
Type a name in Thread name.... Names are limited to 50 characters and must be unique within the case, so a repeat gets A thread with this name already exists and is not created.
Pick a colour. The tab and any reference to the thread take that colour.
Click Create thread.
The colour is set when you create the thread and cannot be changed afterwards. Once a case has ten threads the plus button no longer appears.
Rename or delete a thread
To rename a thread, double-click its tab, type the new name and press Enter. There is no menu for this, so double-clicking the tab is the only way in.
To delete one, hover its tab and click the cross that appears, then confirm. Deleting a thread permanently removes that thread and every message in it, and it cannot be undone. If you delete the thread you are reading, you land back on Main.
Main is the one thread that cannot be deleted, and only the case owner sees the delete control at all. Colleagues you shared the case with can create and rename threads but not delete them, and a read-only share gets no thread controls.
Refer to another thread in a question
Use this when work in one thread depends on what you established in another, instead of pasting the earlier answer across.
Type @ in the message box, choose Threads, and pick the thread. It is inserted as a reference chip in that thread's colour, and Andri reads that thread when it answers. The current thread is not offered, since you are already in it. Deleting the chip text from your message removes the reference.
Andri's answers can point back the other way too: when a reply links to another thread, clicking it switches you to that tab.
Search across every thread
Threads make a case tidier but they also spread it out, so search covers the whole case rather than the tab you are on.
Click Search messages in the case header.
Type at least three characters. Results appear as you type and each one shows which thread it came from.
Click a result to jump straight to that message in its thread.
Search reads the text of every message in the case, both your questions and Andri's answers, across all threads.
Working in more than one thread at a time
Threads run independently. You can ask a question in one thread, switch to another and keep working, and Andri tells you when the first one has finished answering with a link back to it.
